Ingredients

  • 16 oz fresh shiitake mushrooms, stems removed and sliced

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

  • ½ tsp Shroom-Mates Umami Mushroom Seasoning

  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning

  • ½ tsp sea salt, or to taste

  • ¼ tsp freshly cracked black pepper

  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice

  • Optional: 1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes

Directions

1. Prepare the mushrooms
Clean the shiitake mushrooms and remove the stems. Slice the caps into roughly ¼-inch pieces.

2. Heat the skillet
Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

3. Pan-fry the shiitakes
Add the sliced mushrooms in a single layer. Cook for 4–5 minutes without stirring too often, allowing them to develop a golden-brown, crispy edge.

4. Add the garlic
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes, until fragrant.

5. Season
Add the Umami Mushroom Seasoning, Italian seasoning, salt and black pepper. Toss well and cook for another 1–2 minutes.

6. Finish with lemon
Remove from heat and toss with fresh lemon juice and parsley. Add Parmesan or red pepper flakes if desired.

7. Serve
Serve immediately as a side dish, appetizer, or topping for steak, chicken, pasta, rice or roasted vegetables.
